gear selection

Postby tourneomoneypit » Sat Jun 25, 2016 10:18 am

re gear cables i have followed threads on this site my question is after removing the four clips should there be an obvious movement in cables as after re-assembly gears remain same ie prob getting 1st +reverse which is worse on first start up but slightly improves out on road [van has done 149 000] but dont know if cables have been changed in that time

Sounds like the turret bearing in the gear selector on top of the gearbox may be starting to collapse. Search 'mk6 gear selector bearing replacement fwd stuck in gear' for a good how to thread.

Could be a possible clutch fault if it's only when running?
