white smoke, now nothing!

Postby dave_dave » Fri Jul 15, 2016 5:36 pm

hi guys.
new member here and completely new to deisels!
im handy with a petrol engine but know nothing about deisels...

i have a LDV 400 minibus. one of the old ring and rides that im converting into a camper.
it has a 2.5 'banana' engine in it. thats as much as i know about the engine!

so i was out today popping to pick some stuff up. only been out for 5 mins so the engine was just about warming up.
i pulled up to a round about and waited a while. when it came my turn to pull out i had no power what so ever and when i looked out the window it was blowing alot of white smoke and then cut out
i just about rolled to the next exit on the round about and then it would not start again. had to get a recovery truck.
it has a brand new battery and normaly starts no problem every time!!

help me please!!
thanks!!

Could be anything from a bad injector or perhaps a jumped / stripped timing belt these are just ideas. :D

Stripped teeth on the timing belt would be my guess :)
