mk6 sterting issues

Postby yoldy » Wed Jul 20, 2016 7:15 am

hi, hope someone can help shed some light.
i have a mk6 2.4 rwd transit.
recently takiin about 4-5 turns to start
once started runs perfect
seems to be worse when sat for a few hours or over night
just serviced it to see if that would help
but still the same
itused to start right off the button
no lights on the dash
any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks in advance.

If it's just been serviced, I'd suspect an air leak at the fuel filter...if it's been changed recently.

The filter head is a common problem, they sometimes crack and let air into the system....by-pass it and pop the pick-up hose which goes to the pump and return hose into a 2L coke bottle full of fresh fuel, this will tell you if there's an issue with the filter head.

Do you mean the engine turns through 5 full revolutions before starting from cold, if so that sounds pretty good to be honest?

Sound like air seeping back in the fuel system .
