Mk7 transit will only run properly on high octane diesel???

Postby Dezzy » Wed Aug 10, 2016 7:34 pm

Hey people wandered if you could help me with a weird problem I've got..bear with me I'll explain..
So the van has been Spain and back no problems but recently it's started playing up,it seems to loose power when you change gear,it feels like it's holding back as you accelerate then chuffs out a big lot of black smoke then seems to be fine again,it's been in the garage 3 times had the EGR valve replaced, new injectors, fuel filter changed and ecu sent off and checked and still no luck, although recently I've found that on high octane fuel it runs a lot better, any help would be much appreciated.cheers jez

To be honest I'm not sure if garage done this or not, would you do this after replacing injectors?this problem happened before the injector was changed..any ideas why it runs almost perfectly on high octane diesel?

It should have been carried out after replacing the injector.

Best to get it on IDs and have codes read. It's possible you have failing SCV and PRV. Pop the PRV out and see if it's in pieces, if so you'll need both valves replaced, then all the learns done and counters reset, a PCM update might help too if it's not been done recently.

The better fuel may just be masking the real issue.

High octane diesel?? Is there such a thing?? We don't have this in Aus...we just get better/higher quality diesel fuels.

Try removing the air flow meter take out two or 4 screwsbremove black box bit with plug. Ling shaft should have 2 wires across 4 pins.
Clean with petrol and a cotton bud GENTLY . Even leave in jam jar of petrol so wires only are dipped.
If theres black soot n muck on ot too thatll make it run like shyte
