I had a similar issue with my van earlier in the year, the problem turned out to be the cheap new starter motor i got of fleabay.
I would drive say 5 miles turn off go to re start and nothing no noise no clicking nothing, 5-10 mins late it would start no problem untill the starter just stopped working, my solution was a new starter from an auto factors for 3x the price of the fleabay one and its been good ever since.

I can only assume the position of the starter was soaking heat off the engine and rad. N

hi all, finally an update.

took the main earth strap - under the driver seat off. cleaned it up, checked everything else and seemed ok.
now the cold weather has arrived, it wont start first thing. i have to charge my battery for about 40 mins to give it enough juice to turn over when cold.
still getting the problem of not turning over when engine is hot.

i guess the battery is duff now due to the amount of times it takes to turn the van over throughout the year - same battery is on when i bought it over a year ago.
battery doesnt actually hit fully charged! it sits around 12-13 amp on my gauge when charging and does not get any higher.

so firstly change the battery and get a new starter motor.

could anyone tell me if i have a DMF or SMF based on my report from etis?

any other comments please.

That would have had a dmf when it was new, however that's not to say it hasn't been changed at least once in the last 13 years
