Flash code 19

Postby AndyJohnson » Sat Aug 13, 2016 10:48 am

Hi,

Going mad searching about this..

I have a 52 plate transit 300MWB TD..

I bought it without seeing the airbag light flashing code 19.

It only looks to have a passenger airbag, and very basic seat belt buckles so guessing no pre tensioners.

The front bumper may have been replaced and there is a crack above this where the key opens the bonnet.

In taking off the steering wheel it has white paint writing, so maybe the steering wheel was replaced to?

The previous owner put another horn button on the dash, main horn doesn't work and has no voltage at the airbag/horn connector.

Can anyone help.. ?
If it's crashed what needs to be reset? Crash sensors? Airbag module? And where are these both located?

Almost certainly the clock Spring, especially as horn doesn't work correctly

Thanks Ake,

There is no voltage at the horn/airbag connector. If the airbag module was bad should I still get volts there?

Also, meant to say, only a driver airbag..no passenger one.

I've removed the clock Spring unit and checked for continuity from input to output and it is 2 ohms.

The clock Spring doesn't sound the problem I'm guessing.

Any other ideas?

Update

I have replaced the rotary unit.( Clock spring)

The horn now works but the airbag still shows code 19

Any further ideas?

Flash code 19: Crash event detected
Flash code 21: Air bag control module ground resistance high
Flash code 24: Air bag control module internal fault
Flash code 29: Incorrect module design level
Flash code 32: Driver air bag circuit resistance high
Flash code 33: passenger air bag circuit resistance high
Flash code 34: Driver air bag circuit resistance low
Flash code 35: Passenger air bag circuit resistance low

I know the mk7 rcm can be reset, but I'm not sure about the mk6?

But there pretty cheap at the breakers, I'd swap it over and try :D

Is there a inertia switch that needs resetting anywhere?

Hi Punto and Jim,

Do you know where the rcm is on my van?

Will a used rcm replacement need any kind of programming?

Checked on floor behind gear stick, just metal floor, heard it may be near clutch pedal?

As for inertial sensors, I've no idea what's in the system.. Does it has crash sensors on this model?

All I read in the system is rcm and clock Spring.

Thanks
Andy

Yeah, rcm is up behind the clutch pedal, don't think it needs programming.

Ok guys.. Run out of options..

Changed clock Spring and now the RCM and I'm still getting the same flash code 19 crash detected..

What else is there in the system.. The seat belts are very basic as its mk6..

Does it have any crash sensors?

Fixed.. wasn't until I cleared the codes using a cheap reader from eBay that it all worked..
