So after a bit of prodding I realise whoever said I should replace the whole chassis cross member in front of the rear wheel was correct. It was pretty f*** up. So Friday Eve was spend hacking it out and sat/sun making a new one

The original has what I expect are "drain holes" bored in the bottom. I'm pondering whether to reinstate them in the new component. I am thinking I may go with plenty of seam sealer and make the new one water tight. Anyone with previous experience or advice on this thought!??

I'd put drain holes in so you can put waxoil in even if you have made them out of galvo

Nice job mate. Had similar with my old 2001 mk6, that had rusted EVERYWHERE. Flogged it in the end after two dodgy MOT's but had to be honest about how bad it was, still got £700 for it.
