Code reader purchase

Hi All have just purchased below item

USB-Diagnostic-Fault-Code-Scan-Scanner-Tool-For-Ford-Vehicle-F-Super-2-Foucs

The reason I have purchased this is cause van 2003 MK6 2.4 Diesel became noisy all of a sudden, from what I have researched it sounds like the timing solenoid on the fuel pump. Will the reader show me an error code if this is the case.

i just bought one a couple of weeks ago, they are brilliant
had so many codes up, and cleared them
live data is good as well, but has its limitations, but indeed a very good unit,
whats the codes it pops up?

I have one for my van once its set up un the computer its good for basic stuff. It also tells you what the codes mean. N
