retro fitted air con unit identification help required

Postby larkini » Sat Sep 24, 2016 2:49 pm

Have just bought Ex police van and wanted to get the air con re-gassed and the firm couldn't do it as they couldn't identify the unit - apparently there's usually a sticker that has the technical detail and there isn't one! Any ideas on how I can get the unit identified, no makers marks visible at all , the only part number I can find is for the plastic unit its sitting in? Don't want to give up on it but just plain stuck at the minute, any good advice appreciated . really cross as spent good money getting an auto electrician to sort out some of the wiring confusion thats always in ex police vehicles and a big chunk of that bill was for getting the air con working!

Surely the ID label will just detail refrigerant type & system capacity ? or is more info needed to refill ? & assuming your AC system is the factory fitted one, all (FWD) Euro 4 will use the same amount - I am surprised the filler man was unable to look it up.. :(

Google returns this PDF :http://www.nrf.eu/uploads/files/nrf_ac_70x100_zs_def_lr.pdf & says all transit Mk7 (aka TT9 ) use 750 grams of R134A refrigerant. More info in this doc :http://www.fylldinac.nu/AC.pdf

Maybe it had rear air con also like some tourneo's have ? to keep any rear seated piglets cool as well ? would need more gas in that case
