heated front screen.. Is mine one of the lucky ones?

Postby transit321 » Wed Oct 12, 2016 7:25 pm

Hi folks,
I've been wanting to get a heated front screen for my mk6.
Winter is creeping in, and I'd like to have one.
I had a look around inside the van today, and took some pics.
Things seem promising.

I just need somebody who knows their stuff, to give me the thumbs up.
See pics....

Thank you.

Also found a plug next to the electric mirror switch. I assume this is for front fog lights?

Anyone?

Looks like you have the wiring for the screen, plug beside the mirrors will be for the parking sensor switch, is it blue?

Fog light switch is bit into the head light switch.

Thank you for clearing that up.
Will the new screen just be plug and play?

There's 2x40a fuses fitted in the underbonnet fuse board, 2 fuses in fuse board above the glovebox and two relays above the glove box.

Other than a switch and a screen, if you have all the wires it should be plug and play. :D

I found a relay on ebay, but it's for a land rover. See below. Will it be OK?

Land rover/ford Relay: 5M5T14B192EA

The 2nd Relay: 88AG14512AB, I can't find anywhere. So guess it's a trip to ford.

And, I've bought a fiesta mk4 Switch for a few quid: 96FG18K574AA

What about these fuses under the bonnet?

Cheers

Yes the plug is blue.
Is it a big job?

Parking sensors yes.

I wouldn't bother phoning ford for
The Relays, it would cost you over £100, I normally have a set or two kicking about , but I've not got any just now, :(

Just found this picture on Google.
It shows the location of the 2 relays required for the front heated screen on a mk6.
Part numbers are

88AG14512AA (the one with the F on it)
and
5M5T14B192EA (for the other one above it)

Hopefully this will help out somebody who wants to upgrade to a heated front screen at some point.

Thanks.
