Mk6 2.0 TD T260s

Postby Tenshi666 » Thu Oct 13, 2016 12:12 pm

Hi all,

New here and in desperate need of help!!
I've just bought a Mk 6 2.0 TD crew cab but it has an odd engine fault...

At any speed it occasionally, and sometimes often, cuts out, the glow plug light flashes and if I turn the key off and on again it restarts without any problems (either by bumping or with the starter motor).. This only seems to happen at low revs, if I keep it revving it's fine, if it's idling in traffic it's fine. It does seem to be a little worse as the van warms up but this may just be my imagination!

If anyone has any idea where I should start looking for this I would be hugely grateful, I've only ever worked on petrol engines so this diesel is going to be a big learning curve!!

Many thanks.
Paul.

Firstly you need to get the codes read... (I'm suspecting the fuel timing solenoid).

Secondly...don't "bump start" your Transit....there's a possibility the cam chain can jump a tooth or seven..!

Many thanks, going to buy a code reader so hopefully that will answer the question but if not it's off to Ford I go.
Many thanks for the help.

Not all code readers work on the mk6, I use an f-super for reading my codes or get IDS if your pocket will allow. N

Mine had exactly the same symptoms, it turned out to be the fly by wire throttle pedal

You will probably find it is the throttle position sensor, a new working pedal from a breakers should fix you up, I had same thing when I first got my mk6

Cheers
Chris.
