Electrical help needed Please !

Postby SCANIAMAN » Fri Oct 14, 2016 11:11 pm

Okay, so this is the problem !
the van I bought had been attempted theft/theft
The rear back door harness had been got at, chopped and rear back light smashed
Renewed the rear harness, and back light
central locking back to normal !
Now I have no right hand indicators !
Left hand no problem
hazards no problem so I know all the lights are working !
renewed the stalk and the flasher relay, still the same ! the relay buzzes whilst on righthand turn signal
Me Im stumped !!
Can anyone suggest anything , or have any ideas ?
Thank you

Two relays under engine bay fuse box, one will be knackered, or the wiring to it knackered

If it has them, and not all mk6 do,there is an auxiliary relay box with the 2 small rectangular relays in.
It's on the nsf inner wing, sort of under header tank area, black plastic box.
It should be clipped on a metal bracket but I've seen them off this and upside down, then fill up with water.
Or grommets missing from wheel arch throw mud and water till wires rot,
If it's there, each relay does one side pair of indicators.

I'm not sure I've ever seen it on anything but chsssis cabs tho ?

Looks like yours hasn't got those problem relays then.

I'd suggest you start disconnecting o/s lamps and looms now,1 at a time and see if fault goes off.

Likely a wire or lamp shorting out,its s case of finding it now.
Loom to rear can be disconnected inside van above front strut top,2 square connector blocks where wiring then runs up pillar.

If it's a 430 I guess it has the larger front side repeater/sidelight unit combined ? (Stop tail 21/5 bulb)
Wiring to that could be chafed,or loom around rear of air box.

Start by unplugging the right rear lamp as it's easy and you say it's been replaced, damage in that area.
Then see if the 2 front indicators work (obviously they'll flash faster) check all bulbs for correct rating 21w front and rear, side repeater 21 indicator,5 marker light.

If it has,or has ever had a Towbar fitted, that also needs investigating.

Update !
All fixed !!
I ran through everything you said Frag !
still no joy but did a little maintenance on the earths aswell ! Nothing !
Anyway revisited the 2 relays under header tank ! Bingo, the 2 relays had already been got at,spade connectors already added ,1 relay caput !
Only had GM ones at home off Astra ,perfect fit ,now all working again ! going to get some ford ones later today
Reason I couldnt find them first time around, they were all taped up with black tape and looked like harness !
Just want to Thank all for the input ! ;)
Super !
