Clutch Change & Thoughts

Postby seagul2k » Thu Nov 17, 2016 10:29 pm

Evening chaps,

Topic: 2005 Transit Connect LWB 90 66kw

Just boshed transmission back onto engine after replacing inner crankshaft seal and full flywheel/clutch kit install jobby. Subframe was very restricting, however eventually got there. I did however notice that my engine is covered in black oil and this got me thinking.. If I'm in for a penny, I'm in for a pound.

There's a lot do with this engine.

Do I refurb the engine myself using a £500 kit of ebay or just swap the engine? It is a TDCI.

I have also been considering the option of replacing standard 1.8 TDCI for a 2ltr focus/mondeo engine, but if I am to do this I would prefer a simple straight swap, no ******g about with ecus and looms etc. As simple as humanly possible. Is this possible?

The van has done 120,000mls and i want to ensure it is mechanically sound before I convert as will be living in full time.

Why not just pressure wash it off and fix the oil leak? Those engines are bulletproof.
