Frozen water pipes

Postby Barryphelo » Wed Jan 04, 2017 8:03 pm

Tried to start my 2004 RWD 2.4 Ford Transit today and would crank away but not start, had a look in engine and realized the water pipes connected to radiator were all frozen up (had no antifreeze/coolant in water tank - just water), opened one of the pipes connected to radiator and flushed everything out with 3 kettles of boiling water - reconnected pipes and filled with antifreeze but the van still wont start - tried cranking it about 20 times until the battery went dead but no joy - any ideas??????

If it's a cambelt engine my guess would be the water pump was also frozen and it's jumped a few teeth or stripped some off the belt.

The fuel filter is probably also frozen
If the fact that there's no antifreeze in it, I'd guess that the fuel filters been on it a very long time as well, and will be full of water
