Mk7 trend starter issue clicking but not starter fault HELP

[*] hi there people hope some one can help I have a 09 trend the other day starter motor started to play up stopped engaging so baught a brand new one fitted no problem put key in it will click 3 4 times before starting so checked cleaned all connections on celanoid tried again still does it so worked my way up to fuse box under bonnet went to starter relay now if I put key in to half way position and push pin on the starter relay it will fire up perfect so then I went to egnition barrel found starter wire that's not the problem it seems to me it's a fault from barrel to starter relay can anyone help

Probably the ignition switch mate, easy to fit and cheap to buy, main dealer part around £16, cheaper off ebay

Had wires of back tested it still the same checked battery not that neither baffled

Is there anything in fuse boxes behind glove box that would cause this issue another regulater fuse ecs

Have you changed the ignition switch as advised in the quote above? As said very common on mk7. N

For the sake of £16 just replace swith and rule it out, they cause all sorts of weird problems when fooked
