Postby chris evans » Sat Jan 21, 2017 8:58 pm

Bout 6 mnths ago timing chain tensioner went on van, lots of smoke out back van wouldn't rev ,broke rocker shafts cam carrier and cams replaced head cams cam carrier ,van left for 6 mnths as didn't have time to repair, put it all back together ,turns over but wont fire ,only with easy start ,cracked off injector pipes to release air ,only a dribble of fuel coming out of injectors ,could diesel pump have broke while van was standing ,don't understand as pump was fine when van broke down .thanks

Make sure the flywheel sensor is pushed far enough back in

Will have a look at crank sensor is in place properly ,might try new one ,when van broke down put new filter on thinking that was the problem why it broke down , a pattern part ,so a few days ago put old filter back on as it was genuine ford filter filled it to the top with diesel ,still would not fire . :D

Re fitted crancksensor cleaned a bit of crud off the bottom of it ,refitted I pushed I in more tightened bolt ,bleed fuel at fuel filter cracked injectors off and it started :D ,when first started clouds of white smoke nearly filled the street lol,but the more I run it the better it gets ,now there's only a small bit of smoke when I accelerate up the road ,but it seems to b getting better, just glad that its now runnnung :o

Probably some unburnt fuel, water and crap in exhaust especially if been lying in bits for 6months, should clear ok, if its running ok with no misfires take it a run to clear it

Glad you got it running, and agree it probably needs a good bast out and run up to temp to clear all the tubes etc :)

However, must have been fuel related for the non start, as they will start without crank sensor working / plugged in, just won't run for more than about 3 seconds.

Without crank sensor it'll only start with easy start , after doing his cylinder head and setting timing up, when puting the sensor back in it most probably needed shoved in a bit more which is very common

Mk 6 will start and run for 3 secs approx with duff or disconnected crank sensor
