aircon pump keeping cuttin in

Postby dann-b-e » Fri Jan 27, 2017 1:43 pm

ive a 05 transit 280/100 tddi exec & the air con pump keeps cutting in and going off again - you can tell its putting strain on the engine and my revs meter drops. I am not using the air con but it just seems a bit weird to me. Have not done a lot of miles since purchase. My mobile mechanic cant see anything wrong on the aux belt / tensioner. He thinks maybe electrical fault causing the air con pump to come on and off.
Any advice appreciated.

I have the same happening on the same spec van, does the fan automatically come on as you turn the ignition on?

Hey I've been using the van and tried adjusting all the heater settings fan etc seems the air con pump just cuts in every few mins. Totally confused about this. Is there a way to diagnose a mark 6 using a scanner etc what's the best step apart from main dealer?

+1 . Just check if the micro switch is not activated (you have to remove the cover to see) . Sellecting the windscreen position will activate the microswitch that wil bring the AC compressor ON regardless of having AC sellector ON or OFF.
