Hi All
Looking for some pointers here.
I own a 2005 VJ Transit 2.4 turbo diesel. It's been a great van however, experienced some major trouble ( and expense) and it's not over.
I'll try and keep this to the point.
The Van would stall when cold, restart straight away and ran fine when it was going. No issues once it was hot. Suddenly difficult to start when cold. Finally got it going. Then leaving work one night ( warm climate) it would not start and needed to be towed to a (reputable!!!) diesel specialist.
So far we have spent $8000 and had the following work done.
Crack Sensor replaced
Fuel Pump replaced
4 Injectors replaced
also while the fuel pump was done, had the timing chain replaced as well.
It runs fantastic, nice to drive and like a new van.
Problem is....it still stalls. I've had it back a week and it has stalled 4 times. First two times stalled and re-started fine. 3rd time motor cranked but wouldn't fire. I left it a while and it finally started and ran fine for the rest of the day. The last time it noticed it wasn't running as well as it had. 4k into a trip home it lost power and stalled. I had to get road service out. They had a look at the van and pumped the primer button on the new fuel pump and it started fine, no problem. The road service technician said you are probably getting air into the fuel line which may be causing the problem
Trouble is the repairer can't fault the van. I'm looking for some things that may point to this happening from some knowledgeable Transit Owners.
It's very frustrating and I would greatly appreciate any comments.
Thanks in Advance
tony
