Hello andz327, I will check that pipe.

The van was in the dealers under warranty for a gearbox layshaft rattle, they had the box out and a ford tech came from dagenham. 3 days without the van.
End result was, and I quote, "That's a characteristic of the van, totally normal".

Three letters and a dozen phone calls to Ford CRC made no difference!

Anyway as a result of this fault and my investigating, I have found broken securing clips with pipes and hoses rubbing everywhere!

Spent ages cable tying and using old bike inner tube wrapped around for further protection...

I will defo change injector though as no 3 was the odd one out. I know it was not by much but my old instinct is nagging me...

Thanks andz327, I will post update later today...

ImageImage the pipe was only a pin hole to start with and the rubber hose would actually seal the hole sometimes which made it seem an intermittent problem, I drove for a couple of weeks likes this before I actually found the fooker

Hello there and update...

Good images, thanks for the advice.

Checked curly pipe and no chaffs or holes, did see a huge air bubble at the very top near the filter head but it just sat there not moving whilst at idle and elongated a bit when given throttle but that was it.

However I have some excellent news with regard no 3 injector. I called the dealer in the first instance and was quoted £257.20 all in for a new injector!!!
Then I remembered that for years Dealers I have worked for and small local garages have had injectors reconditioned in a shop in Edinburgh called Lawson diesel.
What I know of them was all good and they were a cracking bunch of guys in a small family firm of some 30 years +. They also do marine and offshore stuff.
So I called Lawson whom have now changed name to R and M Injection services and have moved to Armadale. They are official agents for Denso, Delphi, Siemens, and Zexel.

Steven said we will test the injector for you and give you a call so at least you can rule that out and carry on fault checking, £19.99 + vat if the injector is ok.
If injector fooked and you want recon then £115.00 +vat for fully reconditioned.
I said I will be there this morning, so off I went with injector in hand.
As suspected a great bunch of guys... I said sorry it's only one injector but it looked the odd one out on spill test and finance is a bit slow at the mo.
He said not a problem and as it's only one, go for a long coffee and I will have it checked and call you in half an hour.
Call came it's fooked. Gave him go ahead and collected the injector 1 hour later. I quizzed him about a recon only lasting 10k! The look on his face said it all. I overthrew that comment and said fantastic job mate I am truly thankful, which I am, paid the bill and wished him all the best.

Fitted the new injector along with new tty clamp bolt and 'YIPPEE! No misfire. Thank my lucky stars, absolutely delighted.

I dont give a s**t if it lasts only 10k! What an absolutely huge sigh of relief, huge!!!

Never done anything with programming at all. Steven said just fit it and don't mess with programming because the number isn't changed. It may need a fine tune in with the Pilot learn but it should be fine. He showed me the well worn slider pintle thingy from inside and said it's braw noo!

If anything there is a wee tiny knock but miles and miles apart from the hellish miss and heavy knock there was before.
I am honestly so relieved that part at least is over.

If I can get the use of or figure out how to do the PCM tweeks with my friends Solus or maybe get ids and interface I will try that.

I will change the SCV and PRV, but will have to figure out the ins and outs and what I need to do that. I haven't stopped here, prevention is better than cure!

Thanks for the good advice I really appreciate it.

Hello andz327,

Yes that's pretty good info. Pity I couldn't wait mate and I'm sure you understand I needed to know what the hell was going on...

R and M are a good trusted family firm, official Denso agents and the new internal components are genuine Denso parts... so they tell me anyway.

I will no doubt find out how long the recon lasts... but for now we are up and running again and the 2 hour turnaround was a great service.

Do you know about ids, where to get it and the best interface to use ?

Thanks again mate

Think I'll need to leak test my own injectors if I ever get some time as I've got a slight miss at 1100-1300rpm, mind you its done a few miles and probably a few more than the average 130 so I'm sort of reluctant to mess with anything apart from routine servicing Image

Ids variants and sellers constantly change so it's always a gamble :-(, none of them have responded to me so i can't make any recommendations.

My vcm2 is old now and they sent me 2 by accident, the first 1 broke after about 4 uses and I'm still on the second 1 which still works which has been over a year, i initially used it wirelessly but that broke so now I'm using it by usb

New sp177-c1 should be updated chips with serial and be full chip.
