mk 6 2.0 tdci head gasket

Postby acerallyspares » Sat Mar 18, 2017 8:52 pm

Hi All. I am fitting a head back onto my mk6 2006 2.0 125. My problem is i have chucked my old head gasket and i didn't check what notch it was :-( I purchased a timing kit that came with a head gasket and its a 3 notch. What if the original was a 2 notch? will a 3 notch be ok?

AS far as I know the number of notches denotes the thickness of the head gasket . If head was reconditioned (shaved) than you should use the gasket with an extra notch from the original one. So if the original had 1 notch than new one should have 2 notches .
But this is only if the head was reconditioned (shaved) .

Yes a 3 notch will be ok, if the original was a 2 notch
