where does heater resistor go MK5

Hi where does the heater resistor go on a Mk5 and is it easy to change

I think it's under the bonnet behind head lamp / inner wing area

still cannot find where this goes, also how easy is it to change the heater control switch how do i get it out of the dash

The resistor in the piccy above, if you have that one, will be beside the drivers headlight unit, and probably in pieces by now, but if you have a late Mk5 (1997 onwards) it could be the later type mounted in the heater box, next to the motor, and is a pig to get at!

My resistor was up by blower motor . Could sort of see it with head on floor of van near pedal box
