wiper relay

Bought a wiper relay as our wipers could only go full speed, no intermitant and no normal speed, bought a second hand one on ebay and buyer stated fully working and tested, Put it in the van and only have normal speed now and not fast or intermitant, Swapped it back for the one that was in there so wipers now on normal speed, any ideas

With new relay its still the same as it was fast speed, any ideas what else it could be please

Sorry 1998 mk5 swb 2.5 Diesel, i see its a common problem on here and hard to resolve

Bought a new wiper stalk still does not work, could it be the relay i bought is faulty even though buyer stetes it was tested

Took relay out and it still does fast wipe only.

The wiper motor is at fault.

Update.......Bought a second hand motor and plugged it in and it was still only fast speed, looked inside the part where motor connects and 2 of the pin holders looked like they were missing, stuffed two bits of wire in each hole, connected it and hey presto it works.
