new master brake cylinder ..all ok then front brakes lock up

the brakes got gradually worse in the space of a couple of miles after picking up the van from the garage..front brakes locked and brake pedal wouldnt go down..i released some fluid from master cylinder and seemed to do the trick but think i over did it...now pedal goes straight to the floor and brakes hardly working...have i got air into the system do you think...if so is there a procedure to bleed the system?

bleed the furthest away from the master cilendar first,and so on
