Egr valve blanking

Hi i have a 2001 transit 2.4 diesel and have exhaust fumes coming into the cab and can smell it outside? Been told to blank the egr valve off but how is this done. Its the big egr valve with the 2 sensors.

Check it has cabin filter

Lift the bonnet put your head on the radiator top and look back towards the firewall and it is the big plastic box attached to the roof of the engine bay the front rectangle pulls off and inside is a panel filter I never found mine til there was a wet dog smell after owning the truck for 7-8 years
