How much rust on chassis is just normal??

Postby T1mbro » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:23 am

So my transit mk7 has some rust underneath. I'm assume a bit is normal but wondering how bad this is and whether I need to get it looked at or if I can just leave it. I hope to keep the van a good few years yet.

Worst bit is right at the back almost under the brake lights but I don't know if this is in any way structural.

Short of taking it to a garage (who I assume will tell me I need to pay them to do work on it) I was hoping for a view

Once the paint and stone chip goes then the bare metal stands no chance, wire brush it all then spray on underseal/shutz or whatever to keep the air/water/salt away which will inhibit the rust.
