Flat rear leaf spring

Postby 1977Camper » Wed Apr 26, 2017 5:02 pm

Evening all,

The rear leaf springs seem to have flattened out, see pic they are almost horizontal with no load.

Is there a reliable way to check the correct height?

The van was a pamel van (35 hears ago...) since then has had minimal load, seats and cupboards.

Can i remove the springs and have an engineers shop bend them a bit more?

Has anyone made parabolic springs for Transits?

Thanks
Steve

No you don't have them bent back but you can have them re,tempered by a spring specialists or new springs try midland springs or Owen springs .

Hi All,

Since I had the same problem couple of weeks ago where my springs were really flat and heavy loaded took a speed bump to fast my springs made a noise and got even flatter. I decided to change them both.
So I changed my leaf springs on a mk6 lwb single wheel last week after taking it for a spin. I noticed the left spring is standing higher then the right side. The only difference is that the left tyre is smaller 65 instead of a 75. Could that be the problem or is there something else i'm missing?
I modified the van into a camper last year and can't believe that a hob and a sink on the right and a stove on the left make an uneven weight balance! :!:

Thanks if someone has any idea :!:
