just wondering if the front springs on a transit mini bus would be any softer than a standard van.

They were on my Mk5, so I could/would assume that they all are. You should be able to see which springs are fitted from info on the VIN plate :)
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

Sorry, SWB T280, 2005, 2.0 DIESEL, FLAT TOP, FWD.
Tried clamping the springs but too much travel in the shocks, so when van is jacked up springs flop about.
need shorter shocks as well. cheers.

Ford don't make any "Lowering" suspension components for the transits.

OK, clamping the springs doesn't make them any "softer", just makes 'em shorter...there's 17 different springs available from Ford for the Mk6....the FWD 280 has only two different springs available.

See here:

http://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l= ... IyNjQ2NCsw

As you can see, there's also the best part of 30 different shocks available for the Mk6 but none from Ford will be shorter than the ones you already have.

Methinks you may need to find a suspension specialist to get what you're after. Have a fiddle with the search function on the forum, there's a few who have done it.

Hmmm so all i have to do is remove the retaining bolt, let strut slide through 1.25" then drill new hole in the tab.
