Mk6 RWD Pump problems - Auto cut out

Postby toppetsaha » Mon May 08, 2017 9:44 am

Looks like i have the dreaded P1564 & P1664 pump problems. I have changed the crank sensor & checked all cables without any luck..

The van still starts perfectly, no smoke ect. The automatic engine cut out is coming into effect towards the mid - high rev ranges when under load. The truck is still drivable, just very slowly. Does anybody know a way of bypassing the automatic cutout? I am currently just flicking the key on & off to reset the system which is working fine, just very annoying having to do this quite a few times on a trip if i go into the mid range of revs.

I am on the lookout for another engine & ECU as fitting a recon pump will be far more expensive.. This will be its 3rd engine :x Hopefully i will get one fitted on the weekend but i have a few loads of stone to carry before hand.

Timing chain :?:

Those codes do mean a dead pump but yours still starts

IDS does show possible timing chain error, i was hoping the crank sensor would sort this... I think edu is at fault as the idle is a bit lumpy now, when a 'mechanic' fitted the second engine he bypassed the immobilizer somehow so this must have something to do with it.

New engine arriving on Wednesday (125ps cant wait for the extra power :D) hopefully i can get through this week..

Truck died yesterday, suspected timing chain.

I will keep this updated for anyone following the thread.

Had the engine out & looks like the timing chain had either snapped or stretched & jumped off the sprocket, maybe even a tensioner fail. didn't have much time for investigation as only had the weekend to get the new engine in. I had a brainwave & i think i caused this by driving for a month without brakes, having to go through the gears way more than usually.

So theres a 75 ps engine going for anybody local who wants it, if not it will be going to the scrappy soon..

The 125 is a good engine but isn't running properly, probably turbo or coding issues, going to start a new thread in the mk6 forum.
