Mk6 transit over heating

Postby Sheapherder » Sat May 20, 2017 6:36 pm

Hi people my van heating packed up so checked the pipes coming of the expansion tank then opened it to be created by black oilly water drove it for about 5 miles and she started over heating. Got towed to my garage where they flushed out the system and bypassed the oil cooler. I picked the van this morning and driven about ten miles as the garage said drive it around and the temperature gauge is still going up!! Is this the head gasket?

Is she a FWD...?? If so I'm guessing your water pump/PAS splines have failed. The blown oil cooler may just be a coincidence or possibly a result of the dead water pump.

Blown head gaskets are very rare on Tranny's...but might be worth looking at to make sure.
