Biodiesel question

Postby Craigchester » Sun May 21, 2017 4:47 pm

In the light of all the fuss about dirty oil vans, what would the legislation say about a van converted to biodiesel. And, if it is possible to get a 2010 2.4 115 T350 converted, where could I get mine converted?

Bio diesel from the pump should require no modification irrc. Looked into this for my 4.2 diesel Patrol a few years back. The issue is lack of outlets for biodiesel. A bloke I know makes his own and runs his ldv on it with no issues at all

Just run it on fresh veg oil. 2500ltr per year tax free. After that its taxable. Just dont keep an accurate log ffs !!

Surely the van would need modifications before I can use fresh veg oil. I had an old mercedes that ran ok on this and did it all the time but these new vans have lots of ally that would melt as veg oil burns hotter, wouldn't it.

Dont do it..... Tdci transits are temperamental as it is without veggie oil running through its veins

Aye...all the extra crud in veggie oil will quickly clog a TDCi filter. The stray chips and fish cocktails don't help either..!

Veg oil is also different viscosity to diesel so it will most likely cause pump to leak

But that aint a mk7 tdci fella it would be the equivalent of feeding veg oil through the fuel injection system of a 2.9 V6 COSWORTH
