bleeding fuel filter

Postby rowlie1945 » Sat Jun 03, 2017 6:53 pm

My vehicle is a 1990 transit with the 2.5 diesel I have just changed the fuel filter and have primed the system by way of the pump on the top of the filter housing. The pump has gone solid indicating the fuel has filled the filter. Do I need to bleed the system anywhere else or is the filter self bleeding.

You should have filled the new filter with fuel before fitting. It is not self bleeding

Thanks Ake. I spoke with a local Ford expert and he did agree with your comment and suggested that I get someone to turn the engine over whilst operating the fuel lift pump and leave it to run for five minjutes. I have done this and all seem OK
