MK6 TDCi 2.4 135 - Definitive answer to bleeding fuel system

Postby MickyUK » Fri Jun 09, 2017 2:16 pm

Hi All,

As per title, is there actually a concrete, confirmed way of bleeding these little fookers?! There are so many conflicting suggestions that I have read. Some suggest cracking the injectors. Other say do not as the PCM won't like it. Some say tow it & bump start. Others say do not as the chain is likely to foxtrot Oscar.

Any input would be greatly received!

Many thanks,

Mick

Fill the new (hopefully gen ford)filter up with fuel, then do a quick swap and you should be good to go, just hold the revs up a bit to it clears tdci should self bleed

If your ever going to tow start do it in 3rd gearand just ease the clutch up slowly once moving, or 3rd gear from standing still, just so there's no instant bang and gives a chance for oil pressure to build up through the tensioner

Tdci is self bleeding, fill fuel filer and start the van after a few minutes idle it should be fine.

NEVER CRACK THE INJECTORS OPEN to bleed a tdci, its a high pressure system.

Why do you need to bleed it have you ran out of fuel?. N

Cracking the injectors causes low pressure in the fuel rail, which means the pcm sees a fault and so stops trying to inject

As said if you must tow start, third gear, and don't touch the clutch, the 135 is the worst for timing chain jumping.

If it has run out of fuel, remove filter, fill with fuel, refit, crank for 30 seconds, remove filter, fill with fuel, refit, crank for 30 seconds, repeat until it starts

Hi All, thanks for all of the replies. Chain had jumped. Head replaced with matching carrier etc.....

No faults showing. It's nearly there on crank, just being a b*stard to fire!
