Postby choppermutt » Sun Jun 11, 2017 8:31 pm

I recently bought a landrover. The seller said it had a Transit engine in it. Is it possible to identify from the pictures what it is and years of production

I cn supply engine numbers..........once I find out where they are.

Turbo'd 2.5 DI, either a factory TD or a converted normally aspirated (NA) motor - minor differences between the 2 actual lumps, the ancillaries make the big difference.

Thats a bit of a mongrel.

The engine is 88-2000
The thermostat housing is 88-92ish
The inlet manifold is 91-96
The fuel filter is 86-97
Rocker cover is non turbo (pre 92ish) and turbo pre 1991.

Engine year is cast on the block below where the inlet manifold bolts up, and with the engine number (where the PAS pump bolts up) we can give month and year of manufacture
