Cranking but not starting on new engine 2010 T350 145 petrol

Postby lightsquare » Mon Jun 12, 2017 11:22 am

Hi,

I've put a remanufactured engine into my transit and can't get it to start. The other engine started fine before it seized (due to a problem with the balance shaft I think). What has been replaced is the block, head and sump, all ancillaries are the same.

We are getting no spark and no fuel when cranking. The batteries had died while it was sat during the engine change but are now fully charged. No codes from the ECU but the check engine light stays on. Initial googling suggested the timing of the crank pulley (if this was way out then apparently you would get no spark+no fuel) so that's the next thing to check, although with it being a remanufactured engine you would think it would all be in time, and we have asked the people that did it and they say that it is timed. Any other ideas?

The central locking works fine and as I say it does turn over with the key, so not sure if it could be immobiliser related?

cheers

What exactly is the immobiliser LED doing? It should light up when you turn on the ignition, and then go out after a few seconds :?

If the EML is on..it "WILL" have codes stored...But the light will probably be on until the engine starts. What reader are you using..!??
