Really shocked – fuel has turned jet black

Postby KevofCov » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:53 pm

Hi
LWB 2.4 RWD 2010
I did a routine change of my fuel filter two days ago, purchased at Motorworld. Since doing so the engine has been under powered and struggles to restart. The only thing I’d done was replace the filter so I decided to replace the original removed one to see if the problem went away.
It did. Happy days. Duff filter.
What alamed me was when I poured out the diesel from the suspect filter it was black. Very very black. Ink black. There is a hint of blue.
Any ideas anybody? I’m 99% sure it’s not contaminated fuel (will know when I fit another filter on Sunday)

Crap taj filter mate, best to get proper genuine ford filter, you can get them for around the £20 mark if you look hard enough

Quick update.
Been back to the Motorworld branch. They couldn't careless. Not bothered that others may still be on the shelves. No concern for my fuel pump. They are also happy to tell me that there're suppliers prob wouldn't be to interested either....
Lord knows what it was but if it had wrecked my fuel pump/injectors etc I would have been over the counter in one bound....

No problem to get a refund in fairness but if I worked for TJ filters (French apparently) I’d really really want to have that filter back. If I worked for Motorworld’s buying dept, I’d want that filter back.
Shame really but life is short and the duff filter is back in my bin....
