VJ Transit power problems

Postby tonyinoz » Sun Aug 06, 2017 10:10 am

Hi All

looking for some pointers here.

I've got a Transit VJ 2.4 tdi 2005Australian Delivered. I've had some problems and spent a bit of money sorting it out.

It's been running really well until recently.
I've notice over the past few weeks the motor sounds a bit louder. After a recent service its sounds like its running a bit rough. plenty of power though, all good until today.

We did a big country trip ( 400k) we noticed on the way home that we have lost power and there is a mid pitch whistle coming from the motor. Seems to be OK cruising, however, inclines the van struggles maintain speed. Not stalling at all, motor seems to run fine. There have been some exhaust gas getting into the cabin in the last week and these seemed stronger this morning. Non existent on the way home. Hoping its not the turbo.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Regards

Tony

Carefully check for split/damaged;
egr pipe
turbo boost hoses
intercooler

You were right! EGR Pipe broken and burnt a hole in the manifold. Thankfully not the Turbo

Cheers, thanks for your advice
