Hazard/Indicator Failure

Hi,

My Mk6 Transit on an X plate has lost its hazard lights and indicators.

I have checked the fuses relating to the indicators and also checked for 12v at the fuse - all good.

I have fitted a new indicator relay which was situated above the right hand drive pedals - no fix.

When the ignition is off the hazard switch does nothing. When the ignition is on and hazard switch is on the relay clicks a steady rhythm but no lights. If the indicators are switched on, the hazard switch is on and the ignition the relay stops clicking and nothing else happens. I'm stumped!

What can be checked next? Thanks for your help and consideration.

Could be faulty hazard switch

The wiring for the indicators usually goes through the hazard switch, so I'd start with that. Perhaps see if there is anyone local with the same kind of transit so you can test using their switch...

Look in engine bay for n auxiliary relay box under the water bottle / expansion tank, down either under the main fuse box, or clipped to the inner wing. n there will be 2 or 3 relays, and I guarantee this box is full of corroded connections if you turn it over and remove the plastic rear case. Also check the fuse for "towing equipment" in the main engine bay fuse box hasn't blown
