central locking broken

Postby The Doug » Tue Sep 12, 2017 9:51 pm

The central locking on our 04 plate Transit has malfunctioned. We could use the key to open the drivers door but couldn't do anything with the passenger door or the side door. We took it to the local auto electricians who've been able to get the passenger to open and we can now lock the two front doors with the key, but the side door remains unlocked. They quoted £1,500(!) for the work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Starting with the basics, have you checked the two C/L fuses taped to the loom under the steering column :?:

They can be a challenge to spot, down the bottom of the column, you need to stand on your head to see them :)

No idea on the dash clocks, sorry :(

We're away in her on Friday, so will have plenty of time for standing on my head! Lol
We've heard the clocks issue is a common fault & the local auto electricians were unable to help

 Use the search function at the top of the page, if it's a common fault, there will be lots of info on here already :)

You can't use the whole system, because on the Mk7, the C/L is controlled by the BCM which you don't have on the Mk6, but I can't see why you can't use the locks themselves :?

Thanks Altransit. He's asking for £150 for the door lock and mechanism. Does that sound ok? Should I purchase? Thanks
