Water on injector rail?

Postby Acacia » Wed Sep 13, 2017 10:32 pm

Hi.

Just wondering if anyone could help me with a problem.

When it rains there seems to be water coming down onto what o think is the injector rail

It's kind of behind where the oil cap is.

Van is a 2003 LWB night roof FWD.

Thanks.

Welcome to Mk6 FWD ownership :P

So far as I know, most of them suffer with this (this, and a wet air filter!) I used to cover mine with white grease, which stopped the water pooling around the injectors :)

I was just going to say they all do that  its something to do with the seal on the wiper mounting, at least you have a DI so no electronic bits to get wet like on the tdci  N

The air filter certainly was wet when I bought this van a few weeks ago. So bad I had to scoop it out with my hand. The engines had plenty of TLC now and is much better.

I'm left wondering now how to seal the rubbers that meet the windscreen wipers. The underside of the rubber will stick down to the plastic trim with silicone it seems however there is still a large gap beneath the nut of the wiper which pivots inside the rubber so any sealant is broken away as it moved. Are new/modified seals available or any ideas on sealing?
