single passenger seat

Postby serenmor » Tue Sep 19, 2017 6:46 pm

Hi, I am converting my Transit (Mk 6, 2004, petrol) to a camper van, so I need to remove the twin passenger seat and put in a single seat, to enable easy access to the rear of the van from the front. I need to know whether a single seat (it will have to be from a scrapper or secondhand as I'm not rich) will fit on the same mounting as a twin, without any complicated welding or surgery.

Also, if anyone knows where I can get a single seat, that would be a bonus! I live in West Wales ,and although the views are nice, they don't include too many scrap yards!

I am hoping someone will confirm what I think, that the basic chassis will have a common mounting for both single and twin seats, to suit the different van configurations - this would make sense from the production line point of view.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Also you can change inside door shield from flat to shield (with convex armrest).

Yes it's a straight fit the single has one less bolt holding it in you can use mk. 6 or 7 passenger or drivers seat complete with seat box if you use a driver side swop seat belt mounting over and if fitted the arm rest will be on the wrong side on mine I fitted a passenger one it had the armrest on it like the drivers side but I removed both of them to make it even easier to get into the back

Also read on hear somewhere that galaxy front seats fit with the swivels or a vw and seat so if you get a drivers seat box to fit on the passenger side you can do it that way

Yeh make sure you get it with the base too. Perfect place for extra batteries. Fasp swivels relatively straightforward fit on passenger side at least. I got a mk6 seat in my mk7 cus I'm tight lol

I swapped mine not so long back, be prepared for a fight when you get the bolts out. Also get the correct tools and plenty of WD40, might even be worth getting a heat gun or blow torch to heat up the bolts, they can be a b*stards.

Bit late to this conversation!! Hopefully you can help..... I want to do the same, swap out the double passenger for a single base.... BUT the offside bolts are under the diesel tank. Do I have to drop it, or is the cab base threaded for the bolts? I can see nuts for the near side bolts, so thinking it's a bigger job. Than I wanted :/ Thanks
