57-reg mk7 transit 2.2 tdci

Postby Gaz1157 » Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:25 am

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what the tightening torque is for the bolts that pin down the brackets which hold the injectors down...?

I’m fitting my van up in the morning after replacing the cam cover seals that the injectors poke through, got new bolts, brackets and copper washers etc...
I don’t want to tighten them down willy nilly in case they snap lol, would defo prefer to torque them if that’s what they require.

Thanks
Gaz

The manual specifies the clamp bolts be tightened in two stages, firstly to 6nm (53lb-in or 4.4lb-ft)...then 180degrees. Just a little tip, put a drop oil under the head of the clamp bolt to eliminate the possibility of it picking up and incorrect torque being applied..!

Here's what it says in the manual for the injector clamp bolts and the injector pipe unions:

Tighten the bolts and unions in stages in the sequence indicated.

Torque: Fuel injector clamp bolts.
Stage 1: 6 Nm
Stage 2: 180°

Fuel injector high-pressure fuel supply line unions.
Stage 1: 5 Nm
Stage 2: 35 Nm

Be sure to check the bottom of the injector bores to make sure they're clean and undamaged...otherwise you'll possibly be doing it all again!! If you find the bores damaged you can clean the seat with a 17mm re-seating tool.

Thanks for that

The auto data said about the fuel lines but not the clamp bolts.

I’ve been dreading doing it for months but it was actually a straight forward and easy strip down which is always good!
Happy days

Got it back together and all is great.....almost...?

My temp gauge doesn’t work and the electric fan is spinning it’s fastest (no A/C).

Any ideas guys?

Cheers
