Transit Custom Security

Postby Trekker01 » Fri Sep 29, 2017 6:05 pm

I am approaching the end of my lease on my current van VW I was looking to go with a Transit L1. The only thing putting me off his the apparent security weekness of these. I know that there has just been an update but I'm still quite concerned how easily these vans can be broken into.
1 am I worrying unnecessarily
2 if I were to upgrade the security which route would be best
Was looking at the Hilke locks but the key looks and feels very cumbersome maybe something similar with the same reputation

Many thanks

The key is bulky, but you would only ever use it if the vans battery went flat, as normally you would use the remote.

Are you worrying unnecessarily? No you are not.

Remember though that ALL vans have security flaws - just in different ways. The Custom was touted at launch by Ford as being more secure than previous models. It just didn't take the thieves very long to work out how to get around it.

As Punto says, yes the key is a bit bulky and oddly shaped, but it'a worth it IMO.

Quite frankly, it doesn't matter what van I had, it would be the same as my current mk7.

Like fort knox! It has as much additional security as I can afford :D
I wouldn't rely on and manufacturers word.
