FWD and RWD MK7 height difference

Ok thanks for the reply. I'll be looking for a FWD hightop at some point then! Luckily I don't really need towing capability (highly unlikely to ever need it), even so I think the FWD T350 can tow 2 ton anyhow. I would expect FWD T350's (or anything over T300) are harder to find than RWD versions!

Out of interest do you know what the height difference is? Is it just the step difference (which appears to be about 4 or 5 inches)?

It doesn't work like that, my 280 has a train weight of 3500kg, GVW of 2800kg, but a towing max of 1550kg. Obviously, you can't tow 1550kg if it's already loaded to 2800kg

Sounds similar to mine. Odd thing is is that my old 85T280 (low roof SWB) had a (braked) towing weight of 1550kg if I remember correctly, whereas my 140T280 (med roof MWB) is 1450kg. I thought it would've been a bit higher considering the more powerful engine! I suppose they had to knock 100kg off to take the extra weight of the longer higher van.

I've seen some T300 vans with 2500kg towing capability (probably RWD though) but then i've also seen them with only 1000kg capability (probably FWD), on the id plate anyway.

Although i'm unlikely to need it, 2800kg sounds good if I found a T350 fwd with that ability!
