Epic Pump Idle problem

Postby beemer1 » Wed Nov 15, 2017 5:16 am

Replaced leaking Epic Pump on a 98 2.5 TD with a second hand pump.Runs well but has problems idling.Suddenly goes up to 1500 rpm and stays there and drops back after accelerating and after some time wants to die but recovers soon and stays idling and repeats the same again after a while.Timing belt and tensioner are new.Any idea

Sounds like the rotor position sensor (or its wiring) is iffy...

Thats the sensor in the middle of the high pressure pipes
