Mk 6 keys

Postby Oldvandriver » Thu Nov 16, 2017 6:52 pm

. Does anybody know how I can tell if I have an original programmed for van key or a clone ? I bought a remote fob to save wear and tear on the lock and key (I only have one key !). and the thing does not work. So, I assume that a cloned key will not allow me to programme a fob ? Another thing, all the instructions say when you go through the on-off key sequence that I should be able to hear the locks cycling, I cannot hear this. sounds a bit unlikely anyway so what to do next ? are these chinese fobs any good anyway ?

If the key starts the van it is programmed so that's not an issue the remote central locking is fused so check the fuses mk6 ,is up behind the dash if the fuse is blown the lock cannot enter programming mode,as for the fob I cheated with mine if you can get a hold of a black mondeo key it will accept both the pats for the immobilizer and remote central locking 2 things you have to do 1 either get the key coded for the immobilizer or change the transponder in the key from your old one (the first option is better cos that will leave you with two working keys ). Once you have that done all you have to do is get a key blade the same as a mk7 cut and your good to go . I'm not sure but I think it was said that if you programme fobs and for some reason exit the sequence without cycling a known fob during programming it wont nor will ever recognize it again without resetting the locking module on ids

If the central locking works with the key then the fuses will be ok and only use genuine ford fobs. If you look under the passenger side dash you'll see the central locking control box. If it has RC on the part number on the front then it's remote and can have a remote fob

I pulled out the soapdish affair on the passenger side of the dashboard shelf and found some relays and fuses, do you mean in here for remote unit ? according to ETIS this van is supposed to have remote door entry so still looking.... is the remote unit seperately fused from the door keyhole operating bit ?

According to this there should be 2X 15 amp fuses taped to the steering column. N

It's behind the glovebox so you look in from the footwell but if etis says it has it then check the fuses it's easier to see them sometime from removing the steering cowling cover things

If u don't have a keyhole in the passenger side u have remote central locking... The box they are talking about is behind/under the glove box with a big blue and green plug that plugs into it...

Does your central locking work properly with the key? If not check the 2 15a Fuses that are connected to the bottom of the steering column..
