Mk6 2.4 Td into a Smiley

Postby V8_Bodge » Sat Nov 18, 2017 3:40 am

I am pulling the engine and box out a Mk6 RWD 2.4 Td and putting it in a Smiley Mk5.

Is the immobiliser in the ECU or does it have a separate PATs box?

Would I be better transplanting the Mk6 loom complete with the key transponder ring etc into the Smiley?

Has anyone tried this and what are the problems they have come across?

Wish I'd done this. Axle ratio will want to be tall.

Probably easiest to transfer the entire electrics over.

I was hoping that wasn't the case.

Pretty sure it's onboard with the ECU.

Okay, full loom transplant it is.

So I'll need the loom with the transponder ring, the key shown below and the ECU to match?

Just raising a query here ........................

Will there be an issue with the Mk6 gearbox not having a speedo drive for the Mk5 speedo, or is that only the later ones :?: :?

You can maybe use the mk6 speedo as they look similar in size or make it fit like the mk7 dash in the mk6 or put the whole dashboard in too.

Thanks for the help, I'm pretty sure the engine is only a 90 bhp, can I get any more power from it without changing too much?

Mk 6 clocks fit mk 5 dash.
If you use full loom then clocks will work perfect
