Transit run out of diesel

Postby Bobstars » Sun Nov 19, 2017 11:38 pm

Fuel gauge was the lowest its ever been !
So went into garage and put a score of diesel in and now noting
AA came out and said a air lock so he tried to bleed the fuel through
Loosened the injectors and said it's a bad air lock .

In the end it had to go on the recovery truck and is now just sitting there !
Someone said the only way to get it going is to tow it ?
Has anyone done this and is it hard to tow

Cheers

Did you drive up to the pump?

Remove fuel filter, fill to the top with diesel
Refit
Crank van for 30 seconds

Refit,
Crank van for 30 seconds
Repeat until it starts
You will probably need jump leads from another vehicle unless your battery is good
Do not be tempted to tow it, you’ll do more harm than good

hello, the right way to bleed it is:
put a manual pump (temporary)between the tank an the fuel filter on the bigger hose, loose al 4 injectors
now on the main pulley on the right side there is a small hole, turn the engine with a wrench until the hole is at 12 o" clock
now pump the fuel, you should see it coming out one the injectors, when is free of air bubbles tight up the pipe,
then turn the engine until the hole is at 6 (half turn)and repeat, the diesel will come out from another injector, bleed the pipe and turn the crankshaft another half turn.
this until all 4 are done, the crankshaft should do a total of 1 and half turn during the procedure.
this is the procedure suggested by ford ,and is the only one that worked for me
