Starting in colder weather.

Postby Bessie » Sat Nov 25, 2017 7:40 pm

Hi, i have a transit 2008, 110 t260 glx in normal weather it starts and runs with no problems but now that the weather has got colder it starts ok but after a minute or two the revs rise and fall and in traffic sometimes it cuts out , and often the throttle will not respond , it will tick over but does not respond to the throttle i have to turn the engine off, start it again and keep the revs high to stop it from cutting out, once the engine has warmed up there are no problems it drives fine with no issues, i have spoken to a local commercial garage who are going to have a look at it but but have not come across this problem before does anyone know what the problem is.

Has it been serviced and genuine fuel filter?

It will benefit from software updates and pump/pilot learns.
Could check injector leak off and the prv on the fuel rail hasn't blown.

Hi Loot, why would you think it would be a problem with the fuel filter ?

Just routine maintenance of the service parts and software upto date helps massively, partially clogged up fuel filter can cause running problems and if there's moisture in the fuel filter too then that won't help.
Typically when there's rubbing problems like yours you usually put it down to the above.
I'd also check out the glow plugs too although you need to be gentle when replacing them.

Do a search on the above :-)

Pcm update.
Fuel pump learn
Fuel injectors pilot learn.
