Cutting out when cold

Postby robjm » Wed Nov 29, 2017 7:51 am

Hi Again all,
Back again :( , new issue with my 2008 Transit 2.4 tdci lwb,
Having trouble when first starting engine from cold, it fires up no problem but after about 30 seconds the engine revs fall and will not pick up and after a few seconds it cuts out altogether, I fire it up again and the same thing happens until the engine has warmed up ( about 5-10 mins ), when driving when cold it cuts out at traffic lights or when I clutch to change gear
If it doesn't cut out at traffic lights the revs drop and will not pick up, so I have to turn engine off and start it up again, this keeps happening until engine is warm, once warmed up it runs fine.
I have read on here that it could be something called the PRV valve, forgive my ignorance but not sure whether this is the pressure relief valve or pressure relief regulator suction control relief valve or both.
can anybody help with this problem as dont I want to buy the wrong part.

Thanks all for any help

Rob

Don't buy anything until you've had the codes read....buying & fitting things in the hope of fixing it will quickly become an expensive guessing game..!
