diff ratio mk6 jumbo

Postby kennyb11 » Fri Dec 01, 2017 10:20 pm

hi folks hope your well ,I have a 2002 mk6 jumbo 2.4 di rwd .I'm changing the rear axle due to leaking diff seal front and back and bad corrosion. The van I'm getting the axle from is a mk6 mwb same year as mine. Will the diff ratios be the same? I have tried to find the ratio on mine to no avail ,The vin number of my van is wfolxxgbfl1e20916 .I don't know the vin number of the donor van yet but at sixty notes it was too cheap to pass up.can I expect any problems after ive fitted this or are both axels the same? thanks in advance for any advice

Your diff is a 5.13, which is a towing/fullyloaded/low speed ratio.

1/ From the reg/VIN number of the van it came out of

2/ Plate on diff casing

3/ counting the turns of the half shaft, relative to the propshaft

so is 5.13 the highest number on these diffs ? if so worst case scenario is I end up with the same ratio .and if its lower on the donor van this would then lower the revs at speed ,is that right?

Take off the diff cover and the ratio will be etched on the crown wheel .You may have to rotate it .Change the oil and wash it out when you are in there
On the sixth day God created a Sprinter on the seventh he gave it away and bought a TRANSIT
